After the strong disturbance of last week, which brought intense thunderstorms and a marked drop in temperatures over much of the Italian territory, the summer has returned in full swing.
During the weekend, the African anticyclone with Azores influences is once again prevalent throughout the peninsula, while still allowing for infiltrations of more humid and cool air.
In fact, yesterday, rains and thunderstorms affected the North regions, while from today the situation is expected to be more unstable also in the Center-South.
There is a risk that the last week of August, coinciding with the end of the meteorological summer, will be characterized by widespread instability, with thunderstorms of strong intensity.
These phenomena will not only affect Northern Italy, but will especially hit the Center-South regions.

Thunderstorms and also a drop in temperature, but not for everyone
In the North, there will be only a few isolated showers, but overall the day will be quite stable and sunny.
In the Center and South, however, thunderstorms are expected, with the possibility that they will extend to the Tyrrhenian coasts in the afternoon. Temperatures will undergo a slight drop.
Tomorrow, a low-pressure area positioned over the Ionian Sea will influence the weather more markedly in the South.
The day will start sunny, but in the afternoon the instability will increase significantly in the inland areas of the Center-South, with possible extensions towards the coasts, such as in Sicily. Pay attention to the more intense phenomena, with the risk of thunderstorms.
In the North, the weather will be more stable and sunny, with slight instability in the Alps. Temperatures will drop slightly in the South and increase in the North.
Thursday, Italy will be affected by a progressive increase in atmospheric pressure, favoring predominantly sunny conditions over most of the country.
However, in the afternoon, slight instability will persist along the Apennine ridges between Calabria and Sicily, while in other mountainous areas the phenomenon will be rarer. Temperatures will continue to rise.
