WEATHER UNTIL JUNE 24 2024, ANALYSIS AND FORECAST
Very hot air flows arriving from North Africa reach Italy, bringing stable weather and especially the first scorching flare-up of the Summer with temperatures sharply rising across all of Italy. The heat is conveyed by the subtropical high, moving up towards the Central Mediterranean as a consequence of an Atlantic trough moving towards the Iberian Peninsula.

The heatwave will reach its peak between Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees and even higher in some areas of Central Italy, the southern regions, and the two major islands.
The North will be more on the margins of the high-pressure dome, with slightly lower temperatures and some possible storms initially on the Alpine Arc and then on parts of the Po Valley. The worsening in the North will be linked to increasing moist infiltrations related to the vortex pressing from Spain and trying to move eastward, chipping at the African high.
Given the energy at play, the phenomena may also be of strong intensity. These storms will then favor the entry of cooler currents towards all of Italy over the weekend. The heat should thus loosen its grip also in Central-South with a significant temperature drop, but we will remain within a typically summer context.
There will be further stormy impulses during the weekend in the North, but also likely in the central regions with the consequence that the African heat will be clearly displaced almost everywhere, except at the extreme South.
