An Atlantic disturbance is advancing towards Italy, bringing with it a significant change in large-scale weather conditions.
Starting from Thursday, October 3, the arrival of an autumn cyclone from the North Atlantic will cause a drastic drop in temperatures, which will fall well below the seasonal average, and will also bring the first snowfalls on the highest peaks.

The regions of Central-Northern Italy are the first to be hit by bad weather, with heavy rainfall expected in Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, and Lazio.
The intense rains in these areas could cause localized flooding due to the significant accumulation of water.
In the Alps, the snow level will drop significantly to about 1500 meters, marking an early start to the winter season in high mountain areas. The deterioration of weather conditions will progressively extend to Southern Italy and the Main Islands between Thursday, October 3, and Friday, October 4.
Temperatures will begin to decrease, while thunderstorms are expected particularly in Campania, Sicily, and Sardinia.
There will also be precipitation in Calabria and Apulia, although less intense than in the northern and central areas. The drop in temperatures will also affect the Central Apennines, where the first snowfalls of the season are expected.
On Friday, October 4, the arrival of a cold front will bring snow to altitudes between 1900 and 2100 meters, especially in Abruzzo and Marche.
In Umbria and Lazio as well, the thermal drop will introduce a clear autumn climate, with an increasingly pronounced feeling of cold. This Atlantic disturbance marks the beginning of a colder period, characterized by temperatures well below the seasonal average and windy days that will make the air even more biting.
The atmospheric conditions will require an adjustment in clothing, with heavier garments to face the harsher climate.
In many areas, especially mountainous ones, this weather change could represent the early start of the winter season, with snowfalls necessitating greater control of communication routes. In Central Italy, among the areas affected by thunderstorms, Marche, Umbria, and Lazio stand out, with significant rainfall accumulations.
Temperatures in these territories will drop rapidly, favoring an unstable climate with frequent changes.
Conditions will be aggravated by strong winds blowing from the northern regions towards the south, contributing to the feeling of cold.
