The first major autumn maneuvers will force the African anticyclone to retreat, with a truly robust weather change. All the conditions are in place for a break in the summer, as Italy will be hit by two intense disturbances and a subsequent significant cooling.

The mercury will take a first dip on Thursday the 5th, especially in the Center-North, where a significant deterioration with intense thunderstorms is expected. Once the disturbance has passed, there will be a resurgence of the African anticyclone, which will bring temperatures back up in the Center-South by the end of the week. The temporary retreat of the low-pressure vortex towards the Iberian Peninsula will favor the anticyclonic rise towards Italy, accompanied by a Saharan flow.
This will simply be the last gasp and a tail-end, as it will be a typical prefrontal warm advection. Between Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th, peaks above 35 degrees will be possible in the South and on the Islands, before the turning point disturbance impacts Italy. The weekend will therefore be summery at least in parts of Italy, but from Sunday the deterioration will begin to break in starting from the North-West of Italy.
Next week more autumnal and summer stunned
This disturbance will be linked to a cold vortex moving from Western Europe towards the central nations of the Continent, with a surface low that will deepen over the Italian seas, enhancing the effects of bad weather. Cooler currents, descending from high latitudes, will begin to enter the Mediterranean. The weather breakdown should essentially mark the end of summer, understood as continuous and persistent heat. Bad weather and much cooler air will break in even to the southernmost regions at the beginning of the week, with drops of over 10 degrees compared to the weekend values. This burst of cool air will persist for several days, with lingering effects not excluded until mid-month. In fact, there will be the persistence of the depressionary area over Central Europe, which will channel further unstable impulses towards Italy.
All central-southern regions will also be affected. In fact, summer will likely undergo an irreversible crisis, as the weather will remain compromised throughout the next week and no return to stable weather is in sight.
Following this, in the second half of September, the anticyclone and heat may return, but far from previous levels.
