The weather is rapidly worsening across the center-north due to the advance of a storm front filled with rain and locally intense phenomena, such as gusts of wind and downpours.
However, this worsening will only be a taste, as between Sunday and Tuesday the entire disturbance will enter the Mediterranean with its load of cool air. The weather will temporarily improve between Friday and Saturday across much of Italy, so much so that we might even record a new spike in temperatures.
This will be a thermal rise due to the advance of the warm front of the disturbance, which in the meantime will intensify between Spain, France, and Great Britain.
The warm front will bring an increase in temperatures, especially in the center-south, where we could reach 34-35 °C between Saturday and Sunday.
However, this will be the last African breath of the season.
A drastic drop in temperatures is coming
Between Sunday afternoon, Monday, and Tuesday, weather conditions will worsen significantly across Italy, as the entire disturbance will move over the Mediterranean.
The mass of cool air will cause temperatures to drop in every corner of the country, bringing them back to seasonal averages. This means that the mercury column could drop by 8-10 °C compared to current values.
The subtropical heat, which has accompanied us for weeks (and even months in the south), is now at its end.
Intense and persistent bad weather
The bad weather will be particularly intense and persistent between Sunday and Tuesday.
The latest updates from weather models predict rain accumulations exceeding 100 mm over vast areas of the north and the Mid-upper Tyrrhenian, the sectors most exposed to Atlantic currents.
Stationary thunderstorms that could give rise to downpours with rainfall accumulations exceeding 100 mm are not excluded.
This risk particularly concerns Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio, upper Piedmont, and the Triveneto.
