Summer has now extended to five months, representing a new climatic weather normality.

In recent years, we have observed many proofs of this radical change: this year, May and June were mild only in the North, while the South has already experienced what has become a weather hell, characterized by incessant heat and extreme drought.

Prolongation of the heat

The summer season has significantly lengthened, pushing autumn to delay, almost coinciding with winter.

Temperatures continue to record thermal anomalies, with values significantly above average.

On one hand, those who love the sea and outdoor trips can enjoy these hot days, but on the other hand, there is the risk of heat strokes and other health problems.

From a climatic point of view, the situation is worrying, as the ongoing changes bring many critical issues.

An increasingly summer month

Less than a month from the start of meteorological autumn, it is almost certain that we will continue to talk about sun and heat without interruptions. September has transformed into a fully-fledged summer month, with few exceptions.

The last particularly cool September dates back to 2015, and it seems that even the first half of the next month will follow the same summer pattern.

Advantages? Almost none

The advantages of the prolonged summer are few, while the risks are numerous.

Many find this endless season pleasant, but for others, it is a real nightmare.

It is not about judging, but it is important to emphasize that such high temperatures can have serious consequences.

Violent phenomena

One of the most worrying effects is the intensification of extreme weather phenomena.

When the cool air finally manages to enter, chaos ensues, with violent thunderstorms, hail, and gusts of wind causing significant damage.

The weather chronicles of recent years are full of these events.

Moreover, the prolonged heat exacerbates drought, further depleting water reserves.

The real rains

When, the first disturbances arrive between October and November, the heat accumulated in the seas can trigger devastating flood phenomena, as has already happened several times in the past.

This is one of the major dangers that await us if the current trend persists, with potentially catastrophic consequences for many areas of the South.
