The month will thus end under the sign of stability, with widespread sunshine and intense heat.
Temperatures will rise again, easily reaching 34-35 degrees in the inland areas of the peninsula. A pattern that has been persistent throughout the month of August, with very few and brief variations. This weather situation is expected to characterize the beginning of the new month as well.
Remember that September 1st marks the beginning of the meteorological autumn, a period that precedes the astronomical one, but from a climatic point of view, it will be anything but autumnal.
The baric conditions and temperatures expected for the first days of September clearly indicate a continuation of summer conditions.
The African anticyclone will continue to dominate, and according to the latest forecasts, at least until September 6-7, no variations are expected that could bring a significant change in the weather. It is possible that there will be a return of afternoon instability, especially in the inland areas and on the reliefs of the peninsula around September 3-4, due to weak infiltrations of cooler air at altitude.
However, apart from these isolated episodes, the sun and heat will continue to be the main features of the weather scene.
The most relevant data will certainly be the thermal one, with temperatures remaining well above the seasonal average. This situation is not positive at all.
We are now in September, and the above-average temperatures, higher by 4-6 degrees, are decidedly unusual for this time of year. We will continue to see values around 30 degrees and above, from north to south, with peaks that can reach 33-35 degrees in some areas.
This out-of-season heat creates quite a few discomforts, also because it accompanies high humidity levels, particularly along the coasts where the seas are and will remain very warm on the surface. At the moment, we do not venture to make forecasts beyond the first week of September. And we can tell you that for the period under consideration, no meteorological turnaround is in sight. In any case, in the coming days, we will be able to better understand if there will be a change in the long term and, at least, a downsizing of this endless heatwave that is accompanying us.
