As the depression that brought snow at low altitudes moves towards the Aegean, the system loses strength, allowing for a progressive improvement in atmospheric conditions across the entire national territory.
The last disturbances in the South and the rise in temperatures
Today, the residual phenomena will mainly affect Abruzzo and some inland areas of Southern Italy, with sporadic precipitation and snow settling at altitudes between 2,624 and 3,281 feet.
However, the trend is towards a gradual improvement.
A new incursion of cold Balkan air will make an appearance between Friday, December 27 and Saturday, December 28, bringing some rain between Salento, Upper Ionian Calabria, and eastern Sicily. From the weekend, the situation will stabilize definitively thanks to the expansion of the Anticyclone, which will bring good weather to almost the entire peninsula.
Anticyclone and stable weather until New Year’s Eve
Starting from Sunday, December 29, the Anticyclone will dominate unchallenged, ensuring stable weather and clear skies throughout the country.
Temperatures will gradually rise, and the atmospheric conditions will be characterized by sunny days, in stark contrast to the recent winter phase.
However, with stagnant air in the lower layers, there will be an increase in fog in the plains and valleys, particularly in the Po Valley, while in Liguria and on the Tuscan coasts there may be accumulations of low clouds.
Detailed weather forecast

Stephen’s Day: The weather will be predominantly stable and sunny over most of Northern Italy and Central Italy, with local cloudiness between Abruzzo and Southern Italy, where the last phenomena will bring snow around 3,281/3,937 feet in the Southern Apennines. - Friday, 27: Continued stability in the North and Center, while Southern Italy will see isolated phenomena in attenuation.

- Sunday, 29: Clear skies across the country, a prelude to a period of stable weather that will accompany us until the new year.
Weather trend until New Year’s Eve
The further affirmation of the Anticyclone will bring predominantly clear and stable days across the peninsula.
Temperatures, rising above the seasonal average, will favor a pleasant climate but with the return of fog in the Po Valley, which may be thick and persistent, while between Liguria and Upper Tyrrhenian, there is a possibility of low clouds and local dense mists. The weather outlook for the end-of-year period will therefore be dominated by stability, with no significant disturbances and a clear prevalence of good weather across the entire national territory.
