This is simply because in the North we will have practically only sun, while in the South there will still be some instability after the long phase of bad weather that affected the southern regions.
Holidays: what to expect
The weather situation in the coming weeks will therefore be characterized by some variability.
After the first days of Winter marked by intense cold and snow, a brief period of respite is expected at the end of December, which could give way to calmer days coinciding with the transition to the new year.
However, instability will probably return to be the protagonist already from the first days of January, with a possible worsening that will involve much of the country. Temperatures, after a slight increase expected on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, could drop again.
The north winds and arctic currents will bring widespread cold and the possibility of new snowfalls, making the atmosphere typically wintery. While Northern Italy and the Tyrrhenian areas seem to be less affected by the waves of bad weather, Southern Italy and the Adriatic regions continue to be the focus, with weather conditions that require particular caution, especially in hilly and mountainous areas. Sicily and Calabria could experience intense phenomena, with heavy rains and possible snowfalls in the inland areas.
Surprising trend for Epiphany
The weather evolution for Epiphany remains uncertain, but current signals point towards a possible return of cold currents, which could accompany us into the second week of January.
Long-term projections do not currently show any significant mild anomalies, suggesting that the month could continue with the typical cold of the season. So let’s prepare for a period of great climatic dynamism, with weather surprises that could alter our forecasts for the holidays. At least for once, it won’t be the usual weather boredom, at least not for everyone…
