The weather conditions will change radically already during this week, but the definitive attack on the African summer will come at the end of the first decade of September, when we will find ourselves at the start of the next week.
Large cyclone incoming
A large Atlantic disturbance will soon head towards Western Europe, where it will remain for many consecutive days, ensuring a widespread temperature drop in Spain, France, Great Britain, Germany, Northern Italy and, above all, a lot of bad weather.
A first disturbed attack on Italy, by this disturbance, will arrive during this Thursday, after which there will be a small break over the weekend before the peremptory arrival of the entire disturbance on the central Mediterranean.
Last gasp of the heat
During the weekend there could be a temporary temperature increase due to the arrival of the warm front of this disturbance, but it will be in all respects the last African gasp of this summer. After this temporary thermal increase, which will bring the mercury column even above 32 °C over much of the Center-South, a temperature collapse is expected with the entry of the cold core of this disturbance. According to the latest updates from the mathematical models, this cold core will cross all of Italy between September 9 and 11, favoring a thermal drop of over 10 °C and, above all, the development of many rains and thunderstorms from North to South. With the arrival of this disturbance, the curtain will officially fall on the African summer, characterized by scorching heat and unbearable muggy weather day and night. Much of the humidity will be swept away within 48 hours and temperatures will return to typical September values.
Possible other summer days?
But will there be other summer days in the coming weeks? Obviously, this is possible, considering that for years now the months of September and October have shown more and more hot and summer days.
However, with the arrival of this disturbance, the African summer will end, meaning there should no longer be long and oppressive heat waves accumulating annoying humidity.
This does not mean that there could not still be stable and hot days, but within the norm.
