A severe thunderstorm cell affected the city of Alessandria during the afternoon of Sunday.
The intense storm blanketed parts of the city as if it were snow, necessitating the deployment of snowplows and even bulldozers to remove the large amount of ice that fell from the sky. Hailstorms of this nature can occur as a result of the accumulation of large amounts of ice in the cloud, which then, pushed downward by descending winds, do not melt during their fall but clump together forming hailstones even larger than their initial size, and thus we see an incredible amount of hail on the ground as shown in the video. https://youtu.be/9Bsvvfcsb_8?si=EE3N4TRihW3q02A2
