The North of Italy is one of the Italian areas most subject to large-sized hailstorms.
These are associated with thunderstorm areas with very strong vertical development that enormously increase the size of the hailstones which then fall at very high speed towards the ground, causing damage especially in agriculture, while larger hailstones can also damage cars. But as we have been able to observe more and more often in recent years, exceptionally intense hailstorms can also cause damage to some building structures, such as house roofs, skylights, and especially solar panels, which are extremely exposed to the elements.
New materials protect the latest solar panels from hail, but there is little to be done against particularly large hailstones. In the video, we see a car damaged by a thunderstorm that at first glance seemed nothing extraordinary, but then turned out to be devastating, damaging the unfortunate motorist’s car with hail.
