WEATHER UNTIL JANUARY 3, 2025, ANALYSIS AND FORECAST
The stable weather phase continues, linked to a vast anticyclone with maximums beyond the Alps.
A flow of north/east currents continues to reach the southernmost regions. This cold air will maintain residual variability, but without noteworthy phenomena.
The flow of cold air from the north-eastern quadrants should definitively exit the scene in the last days of the year. Temperatures will rise to milder values, especially in the highlands.
The anticyclone will guarantee almost uncontested good weather scenarios across the entire country.
Therefore, we will not have to deal with umbrellas for the transition to the new year, except for some episodic drizzle between Liguria and Tuscany. On New Year’s Eve, the heart of the Anticyclone is expected to position itself over Italy. The stagnant and humid air in the lower layers will favor a significant increase in fog in valleys and plains, as well as low clouds between Liguria and the Upper Tyrrhenian.
On New Year’s Day, increasing humid infiltrations will bring more cloudiness to the Tyrrhenian areas and the Major Islands, with some isolated light rain that will be a symptom of the decline of high pressure. A more significant change is expected in the days immediately after New Year’s, with a more marked weakening of the anticyclone that will open the way to north-Atlantic fronts.
This change in circulation should lead us towards a deterioration that should be felt in the first weekend of 2025, followed by the probable influx of colder air of polar origin.
