Next week, we remind you, will welcome the month of September and therefore officially the meteorological Autumn.
What is evident is the anticyclonic crisis that will hit Western Europe, where a large Atlantic depression will settle.
After hitting France, it should extend to the Iberian Peninsula, while Italy, it seems, should remain on the margins of the cyclonic circulation.
However, some drafts of humid air seem to be able to penetrate the eastern flank of the High Pressure, thus triggering new atmospheric instability, particularly in some regions of Italy.
SHORT-TERM WEATHER In the meantime, the recently recorded instability – locally very violent – is taking a breather.
The Subtropical Anticyclone is accelerating, once again, which means we are expecting another weekend characterized by prevalent atmospheric stability and above all by uncomfortable thermal conditions.
The heat will be intense and muggy.
There will be room for some residual heat storms, between early and late afternoon.
The areas most at risk will be the following: Southern Apennines, inland areas of eastern Sicily, the Alpine arc.
Elsewhere, except for a progressive increase in cloudiness in Sardinia starting from Sunday, we expect good weather.
STILL SUMMER OR IMMEDIATE AUTUMN? The aforementioned increase in cloudiness in Sardinia will represent the outpost of atmospheric instability that could break out in the following days.
As mentioned at the beginning, some drafts of humid air could sneak eastward, causing the reappearance of thunderstorms.
At the moment, the regions most at risk seem to be the two Major Islands and Southern Italy, but other thunderstorms could hit the central Apennines and the Alpine arc.
This evolution will need to be monitored very carefully because we do not rule out that there may be – even sensational – developments in progress.
IN CONCLUSION What we can tell you is that there are some signs of the beautiful season weakening, and it is right that it should be so, let’s not forget that in just over 36 hours we will be officially in Autumn.
Remember that weather forecasts are more reliable up to 5 days, while their accuracy decreases as the forecast period increases.
