However, in the coming days, a strengthening of the anticyclone is expected, leading us to a phase that is once again more stable and even hotter than now. In the second half of the week, the modest baric gap at altitude, currently present near Southern Italy, will gradually fill. This process will lead to a reduction in convective instability that has characterized recent days.
In its place, the sub-tropical anticyclone will return to dominate the meteorological scene almost unchallenged, fueled by a further impulse of hot air of African origin.
This strengthening of the anticyclone will ensure, between Friday and Sunday, a new phase of widespread atmospheric stability and very high temperatures. In particular, between Friday and Sunday, the weather will be predominantly stable and sunny over most of Italy.
Only the South will see some residual phenomena on Friday, while on Sunday some thunderstorms might appear over the Alps and, towards the end of the period, also over the plains of the North-West (to be confirmed).
Apart from these local disturbances, the sun will dominate, favoring, as mentioned, a further increase in temperatures across the entire national territory. The days of Saturday and Sunday will be the hottest, with temperatures reaching really high values for the period.
In the North, highs could reach 33-34 degrees, while in the inland areas of the Center-South, especially on the Tyrrhenian side, peaks of 35-37 degrees are expected.
These are values well above the seasonal average, once again highlighting a positive thermal anomaly that persists despite approaching the end of August. Even along the coasts, the mugginess will be a constant, with humidity accentuating the feeling of heat, making the atmosphere particularly heavy. we are expecting a weekend characterized by sun and high temperatures, with weather conditions more typical of mid-summer than the end of the season.
It will be important to pay attention to the effects of the heat, especially during the central hours of the day, to avoid heat strokes or other negative health effects.
